I got a custom leaf pack made by Carrier Spring. It gives me 2" of lift in the rear. IMO its better to have the lefs than a shackle. I used new stock replacement shackles, they don't stick down like the warriors do, and you can get the spring packs made however you want. www.customsuspension.com is Carrier's site. Shipping is pricey as you can imagine shipping two leaf packs from Canada, but their customer service is unrivaled, and like I said, if you call and talk to them they can make them however you want. If you don't go offroading at all just get a standard lift pack, mine have more leafs that are thinner though so its more flexy offroad.

I agree with Jason, the leaf packs are the way to go. There are a few ways to go with this.

F-150 leaf packs from a Junkyard for lift.

Custom made leaf packs from Deaver, EMU, etc...$$$$!!!

Add-a-leaf/helper leaf for cheap (stiffens ride but gives a little lift).

Add a 5th leaf from another set of stock leaf packs, cutting off a few inches and placing under longest spring. Maniak Mod.

Having a new leaf made & added, and have the stock pack re-arched for more lift, what I did. I have a 5 leaf pack and I have 4" of lift over stock specs from it. I use the stock shackles so it does not hang down(hang up) and prematurely wear out the leafs. This was 3 times the cost of shackles, but worth it to me in the long run. But I take my rig off road.

Its up to you. Shackles vs leaf mods. Shackles work great for a cheap lift and street use. Leafs work better for off road.

i think shackles are the way to go then for me. the truck never does anything my camaro cant do lol

What about just getting your leaf's reset? Did it on my old 98 + aal - pro's, road driving especially cornering was great, rode flat as, great for towing or carrying weight - cons the rear tended to "skip" around a bit when you first hit corrugations till it settled down :D

p.s. it was done for a 40mm lift

not looking to spend alot on the truck.

what about spacers like from road bully. ive been reading some registrys and some guys are running that

For the money I am very happy with the new ARB Dakar leaf spring packs. They are less expensive now. ARB USA team was really helpful/informative as well. I am running them with the Warrior Shackles.

i have a 03 sport xlt i did the tt and added a leafs sits perfectly level and went up a size in tires 2.1/2 lift total

Its funny you know, ARB are an Australian company but you can't get anything for X's off them over here grrrrrrrr LOL

how easy is it to put f-150 leafs on? and wut year is recomended?

steelo,
you can get their stuff here, you need to go to one of their vendors. They have leaf springs for 2nd gen explorers and extended shocks. Their catalog left alot to be desired so I called them directly.

so i went to auto zone today and was just poking around and i saw a set of lift blocks per say. they go between the axle and leaf. they are 2 inches and were $30 for the set. i figured why not. maybe ill install them tomorow if i have a chance who knows. anyone else run these. i was actually looking for the shackles

Explorers are spring under axle, installing blocks will lower the vehicle, not lift it. Lift blocks only lift the vehicle if its a spring over axle.

I tried both US & Oz ARB sites & neither of them even list Explorers in their Ford section. I thought that a bit strange of the US one, being the land of the Explorers LOL
