Hi Guys.
The story so far;
I've made a pair of shackles as per the drawing.
They are very strong compared to the originals. I know they will fit on the chassis and they fit on the leaf spring.
My lefthand shackle came off very easy. Unfortunately the righthand bolt is seized inside the right leaf spring. Therefore I cannot give you the ride height difference with the new shackles, because I can't fit them both to my Ex.
They will cost £40 a pair plus about £10 postage. [ they weigh 3kg each]
You will need 4 bolts that are 14mm X 120mm long because of the extra thickness of the side plates. My local 'Bolt' man quoted them at £1.50 each including a nyloc nut. I can supply these if it makes it easier for you.
I'm annoyed that I can't give you the results with them fitted because I've spent quite a number of hours [ and £'s ] sourcing materials and taking my Ex to bits to make sure they fit.
I will paint them black or leave them primed as required.
Any questions, just ask away.
Kev.
p.s. I'm not out to make a huge profit. The price covers the materials, welding gas, electric etc. I don't work, and it gives me something to do.
