You will probally have to go to a junkyard,j.c.whitney does not have them either

Use the "search"

button on at the top of the board and type in "rusted rockers" or "rocker replacement" or some other keyword, there is a wealth of info on this subject on the board and some of it can be kinda difficult to find, but the search should get you there. I think I remember someone posting about replacement panels that you could buy. Good luck.

There is a place in Denver that sell a patch panel for behind the door on 4 doors.

The name of the place is called Rocky Mountain muscle car or parts duplicator.
phone number 1/800/456/5526

That panel is the only one they make for the Explorer as far as I know.

thanks

hey thanks for the info i will give them a call!

hey 88vert where is clinton iowa??
i live in clear lake which is by mason city

Uh as for the back gate, I have the same problem, and all you can do is cut out and weld in new metal, or replace the door with solid metal. I've yet to see a place with replacement metal for back there.

www.bumperauto.com has the part you need for $24.00 dog leg and the rocker panel for $32.00

Anybody that is interested, I think I still have a pretty large pile of new rocker panels ( I had to buy the complete door surround panels to get the upper parts that get damaged in a rollover. also have 1 new 91-94 tailgate and several later model ones. e-mail me at "tmblweed@arn.net" Paxton

Rocker Pannel

Already did the door legs but I need about 8" of rocker panel to finish the passenger side how much?

homemade solution

i have the same problems with rust in those areas. for the rockers, i just got some aluminum and steel sheet metal from the home depot and formed it to the shape of the rusted out rocker. i used a rivet gun to attach the metal piece to the car, then went over it with fiberglass repair kit (fabric sheets and fiberglass resin) and bondo. wala. good as new, except i still have to paint it.

i would appreciate a solution to the back hatch tho. i have pretty extensive rust all along the bottom. and on the inside.

i had the same problem in the same area. I just ground out the rust, formed a piece of metal with a hammer and my vice, welded it in and did some final bondo work. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2075993
