Has anyone ever installed a shift kit in their A4LD tranny? I have a '92 and unfortunately the tranny isn't electronically contolled so my Superchip doesn't help the shifts. From what I understand they weren't electronically controlled until '93. I have seen a shift kit available through 4.0 Performance at one time, but was wondering if anyone else had any more info that might be of some use.

to the best of my knowledge no "shiftkit" is available for us. there is however a vacumn line modifier/filter thing that firms up the shifts. but imho i wouldnt use it

Two avail.

Two kits are avail.

one from TransGo, and the other from Superior.

a link to the superior kit:

A link to a site that sells both:
If the kits dont come up search parts by transmission-Ford, and you will see A4LD and then valve body kits

I think if you are having yours rebuilt then the superior is what I would use. If your not rebuilding then the Trans-Go would be my choice. I dont have either installed in my vehicle- but I will someday.

good luck

what is the trans-go kit? i have never seen it. what about ease of install? backyard mechanic or shop?

I have a TransGo A4LD shift kit for sale...

The TransGo shift kit for the A4LD is a package of color coded replacement springs, check balls, and instructions for installation in the transmission valve body.
This is a new kit that I bought from a person on the message board. I have decided not to use it because I'm not up to doing the installation.
I will sell it for $20, shipping included.
I would suggest this kit be installed by someone familiar with the valve body assembly or by a mechanic.
Let me know if you're interested...
