I was wondering if anyone could help me solve this one. I took the shift motor off today and cleaned it, because nothing happened when I pressed the button..not even a click from the back. I took it apart, cleaned it, put it back on. I pushed the button, heard clicks from the back (a good sign), but it didn't shift, and no lights came on. I unbolted it and watched it while someone else pushed the button. I can see it trying to shift (it "jumps" around), but the selector doesn't move. Any idea why it might be binding?

Anyone have any ideas? (Besides a manual swap...)

Maybe you didnt put it together properly, or maybe it is not adjusted correctly or maybe it is toast.

What happens when you push the 4hi button? Lights flash?
hear clicking? Shift motor move at all?

When you say you cleaned it? how? did you follow instructions found online? Did you take apart both the stator and the motor housing?

I took it completely apart and cleaned everything. When I push the button, there are no lights (it didn't work when I got it, so I don't even know the bulbs are good), the ECU in the back clicks several times, and the motor "kicks", but the gear doesn't turn.

new motor time, junk yard or try a friends. Dont pay $300 for one!
