shifter problem

ok so im havin a shifter problem.. i drive a 5 speedmand for a while it got stuck in third occassionally.. now it goes into third and fourth fine but if i try puttin it in 1 2 4 5 or reverse the shifter just spins... any way yall could help

check your transmission mount.

my 5 speed would bind up a little going up hills with a broken trans mount.... mine had a good 1/4 play in it where the rubber had cracked.

A new mount is $20 at any parts store.... if your truck is 2wd the automatic 2wd mount is the correct one. The parts stores DO NOT list (around here anyway) a trans mount for a 5 speed explorer.... I had them cross reference the part to same year 5 speed ranger to make sure.

It sound like your shifter is loose and needs to be rebuilt.
