I just finished up doing a 2" susp lift with a Procomp kit.
Everything seemed to go okay. (Well, after I recovered from hitting my funny bone on the inside of the rear bumper)

I got to the front driver`s side to install the coil spacer, and the lower shock mount nut came off very easily. Trouble is it took the end of the mount with it! It broke off right where the threads start.
I then noticed that the passenger side mount can be removed by undoing a nut on the other side of the arm, but the driver`s side is recessed or something, and doesn`t look like it is removable.
The passenger side may have been replaced at one time I`m thinking, Or is this normal?

If it is not normal, How do I get the broken one out:mad:

I`m sure you`d all laugh at my "mickey mousing" to get me home tomorrow! Hope bungi cords will hold that sucker back.

(tired, frustrated, and my funny bone may never recover-owww)

Sorry I cant help you on your main question,

BUT

Bungi Cords!! To hold a shock in? wow wouldn't be my choice, but probably better than nothing, I am going to be installing my shocks this weekend and hope everything goes alright.

Actually the same thing happened to me and I had to use hose clamps to hold mine on.:D This was in January and temps were below -20C. I learned a new respect for hose clamps, they held both shocks on for three days and when i took em off they wern't even stretched!! I think I'd be a bit scared of bungee's though, they have a lot of elasticity.

As far as your problem, just grind the old mount flush and the drill out and replace with a new one. They have a section in Canadian Tire auto parts labelled 'HELP!' that has a universal shock mount. Works real well. Another note, use cobalt drill bits, they cut through that steel really well. Regular bits wear out really quick.

What do you mean? Bungee cords rock!

Don`t think much force is directed that way.

Thanks for the tip on the "help" mount at Can. Tire! I figured there would have to be some drilling....

yay I can post pics!

Just drill the old mount out. Go to Home Depot hardware and get a bolt that fits the hole. Get a couple nuts and your done. this is what I did to both sides of my 1994. It works great and I dont have to mess w/ it anymore.

I had the same problem on my '93. The threads broke right off and there I was on a Sat. evening with the front shocks off. I used a drill and drilled into the end of the mount right where it broke off. I then tapped the hole I had just drilled and then put on a bolt with a large flat washer. It has woked fine for me the past 9 months.

hehe bunge cords.... when i snapped my control arm off the tercel i welded it back together and tried to put it back on.... it didnt line up right.... so i used chain to prevent it from falling downward and a dog leash to hold it from shifting forward.... it worked until i could drive it to the junkyard....

Bungee cords, chains and dogleashes. What, no duct tape? You guys kill me. Any repair done without proper tools or parts should always be attempted with duct tape first. And swearing, yea, lots of swearing.

:D
he he

Almost forgot where this post went.

Solution = Can. tire help section for 10 buck "help" replacement. Didn`t need the rubber parts it came with. Just took grinder to it and drilled a hole for it!

ajevenson, you the man!

Thanks people!

You know I had a roll of duct tape handy too.....
