shocks for 8 in lift

hey guys,
on my explorer i have pro comp es 3000 shocks, and going to buy new ones on jc whitney.com, they say they fit explorers with up to a 2 in lift....should i just never mind it and buy them or find ones for a 8 in lift? Let me know fast

Ummm... if you need shocks for an 8" lift, why would you buy shocks for a 2" lift?

They will not be long enough... if you have an 8" lift, they will bottom out on compression and seriously limit travel on extension... you will probably destroy them in short order.
 












Your probably not going to find any that say "for 8" suspension lift" for an explorer.

What you need to do is figure out the compressed and extended length of the shocks you need and then look in the shock books to find one with specs that will work and that have the right type of connections on both ends.

Your best bet is to pull up a catalog from Rancho, Monroe, etc, and look for something that has enough travel. You may have to adapt one of the ends.

I'm assuming you have a 5" suspension and 3" body lift. Or 6"/2". If that's the case you only need 5" or 6" lift shocks.
