I am new here and have learned a lot already. Thanks to all with valuable input.

I have just received my spankin' new BTF spacers (thanks Brandon) and I have been looking for the appropriate shocks to accompany them. I have looked around and have not found any specifics on shocks. I understand the stock shocks will work, however, I would still like to know if there is anything aftermarket that will do the job better.

Thanks for any reply fellas.

and by the way, can I combine one of those quick lift (spring/shock combo) deals with a spacer (BTF) type lift?

ive read a bit saying that you dont wanna go more than about a 2.5" lift because it will put ALOT of stress on the cv shafts and wheel bearings ... but i dont have mine lifted yet so if it does work out be sure to let me know bro

Yeah I guess a combo isn't a great idea after all. But I still can't find any specs on which shocks work well with a spacer lift.

Stock shocks as of right now but I would like to get some Monroes soon....
Part # 171398 Front, 171322 Rear.

MOS 21M

this quote is from the thread lift tire combo its one of the first few from PA99XploderSport hes running 2.5 front and 2.25 rear

DO NOT COMBINE THE STRUT SPACERS WITH A Rancho QUICK-LIFT!!! That would give you too much lift for the factory suspension geometry. Also, remember that a 2.5" spacer translates to ~3.5" of lift (in my experience at least) due to your suspension geometry.

The quicklift shock are essentailly a shock with the Spacer built in. Putting the two together would lead to a very, very sad suspension.

I really like my Rancho RSX's shocks. They ride great on road and soften up decently at low rates for off-roading / cruising around the desert. You can use any factory travel (factory length and geometry) shock with a spacer lift.

My RSX's ran me around $440 shipped from Rock Auto. I'd give em a 5 outta 5.

EDIT: I've also had no issue with my ball-joints sitting on 2.5" spacers. The real nasty issues occured with 3" spacers. I'm sure my ball-joints lives have been shortened compared to factory geometry, but this is a risk you'll run with any aftermarket tweaks fo your vehicle. I've run A-OKay for 6,000 miles...

what part number did you use for the ranchos?

Got 'em on my '04 4WD V8. I love 'em. They are excellent off road, and the variable valving does a resonable job when crusing around the desert. Way way better than the stock shocks.

Fronts - RSX17521 $89.79 each
Rears - RSX17507 $83.79 each

Somewhere around here is a 5% discount for Rockauto...

Swipped from another post

Just to close this issue...
I realized that the shock is not a limiting factor with a BTF style lift, and therefor any stock sized shock will do. I went with a set of 4 Monroe Quick Struts due to the fact I also had to replace one spring (rear right) and wanted to do all 4 vice just replacing one of them. Nothing is in yet, but the front end is on jacks and I am going to take the next week to bust on some rust.

On a totally different note...I threw on a flowmaster 40 series today and it is swikidysweet. The wife says it is too loud, but whatever, I haven't had a dip (tobacco) in a week, so that is my reward.

Thanks for all the help fellas.

did you just swap out the stock muffler or replace any of the exhaust?

From the cat joint back is 2.5" with a FM 40 and a 18" long 4" diameter chrome tip, the tip is out the driver side rear tire. and you know how the tips have that 45* angle cut in them, well mine is sideways so it lines up with the body...

all in all, prdy sweet, eventualy i'll get some pics up

Where or who can I buy a set of BTF fabrication spacers from? I need a set very bad. Please someone help me. Thank you

So you somehow knew to do a search for the spacers and you decided to bring back a 1+ year old thread, when there are much newer ones and a few that are in the sticky section which are used specifically for discussing the spacers?
