Well it's time to sell the '98 EB and get a new explorer. Asking for comments on a couple of 2010 items:

1. v6 vs. v8 (we do not tow anything, so that is a non issue)
2. limited (as it has the stuff we like)
3. 4x4 only (no awd) comments of 4wd vs. awd?
4. On the linited the quad seats, do they really recline or do they go what I call the airplane seat recline where they go back like 10 degrees? Also are the quad seats on tracks where you can adjust them front to back or are they stuck in 1 position?

Thanks!

Jack

I got 06 v8, and I needed v8 for towing and plowing. From what I heard the mpg is not that much different, also it's nice to know you have almost 300 hp there:)
Limited is very nice, I especially like the mono paint on them. Equipment wise they are same as EB, also I think, Limited came only with v8 and tow package.
4x4 should be better for mpg as the front engages only when needed, awd is full time.
I like the quad seats on SUVs, but in my case with 2 children, they can both lie down and sleep. Can't do that with quads.

1. V8 was my one and only choice when I looked for a loaded Eddie Bauer or Limited 4th Gen. I have no plans for serious towing. The better engine power and refinement, plus 6 speed tranny was worth the search. It's nice to have the V8 and no penalty in gas mileage versus V6 (EPA mileage nearly same for both, V8 slightly better)

Alright, I have a 2010 XLT with the 102A package. This is the second closest package to the Limited. I have heated leather seats, sunroof, Sync, Sirius, and third row seating. I absolutely love it. It has enough gadgets to keep you entertained, and it was affordable. If price becomes an issue this is a good fall back. The 103A come with some more things check them out at the website below.

I have the V6. I will abmit that I would love the V8. However, this engine has quite a bit of get up and go.

I also have 4wd. It is auto so it will kick in if you need it. You can also engage it with the high low buttons. Now, if you get a 4x4, try and find one with the factory installed trailer package. I know you said you were not looking at towing, but this option upgraded the rear end to a 3.73.

I know nothing about the seats.

Hope it helps some what.
