shot oil pump???

my ex is running again with oil pressure.
i had drained the oil and cleaned everything out nicely to figure out what was happening then i took the pan off cleaned it and cleaned the oil spout that reaches to the bottom of the pan and hooks to the oil pump.

flushed everthing out and got a new firlter and mobil one syntyhetic 10w30
filled her up and prayed to good that the gauge would move well it did and went to 60 psi which is awesome. thank you mobil one you saved me a whole lot of money.
i got a mechnical gauge on order. the one i had was borrowed from a friend.

well all is good i guess and the pieces were from the cam chain guides which i'll change so as i get my rims and tires.

woohooo:D

congrats on getting it fixed, glad to hear the oil pump wasnt shot.

thanks man..
now if only i could get 33x12.5 mud terrains under my truck i'd be set...

looks like it's gonna take some add a leafs and maybe shackles and a tt them maybe a body lift which i don't wanna do

dam

Ahh

Just buy my lift and take it off my hands! Say it with me say it proud 4"... 4"... 4".

Got it? good, now on your own!

Yeah Body lifts suck but there arent many options for out trucks. I dont like running a body lift in my truck but i cant afford a traildisaster lift or sas. but im gonna have 35s on my truck soon with a tt shackles and BL. So it cant be all bad. :)

Namitey

Your going to need more than a TT and a body lift to run 35"ers unless you plan on cutting or bending. Or maybe you don't like you fenders. Better stay with 33" at most FYI. I have damage from 35" with 7 " of lift and I still rub! keeep in mind thats not including the my shackles and TT.

Wish you luck.

1986 Bronco II oil pan gasket

Hey guys i have been reading all over about taking the oil pan out of my 1986 Bronco II because the gasket was shot.
After reading everyones comments i was bummed because it sounded like i would have to take the engine out to get the pan out. It may be easier to do this for many, but i dont have any tools except a channel lock socket set so taking the engine was not a possibility for me.

I did however get the pan out today without ever touching the engine!!!

What i did was remove the tranny, then i took the clutch and flywheel off.
I figured that since their was no way to pull the pan out the front, i would try to pull it out the rear. And much to my surprise it worked wonderfully.

After i took the tranny and everything out (which michigan rust makes any exposed bolt a pita to get out lol) all i had to do was lower the pan. Once i had the pan down i realized it wouldn't slide back because the oil pickup was in the way. Luckily when i stuck my head up with a flash light to take a peek i saw that the oil pump bolts were right their and not hard at all to get at. A simple star bit and a pair of vise grips did the trick.

Once i removed the bolts i dropped the pump in the pan and she slid out like nothing. (i then took a celebratory chew... lol and jump up and down a little lol)

The new pan comes in tomorrow and i have a new oil pump because i hear the Bronco II pumps are junk lol.

Now tomorrow i will just go in reverse and put it back together.

I also picked up a new clutch kit because i figured while i have it off it would be a good idea to replace all of that.

So for a 19 year old kid with two floor jacks and a socket set i would have to say i did pretty well considering i have never done anything like this. And as my Grandpa says "If you can take it apart, YOU CAN PUT IT BACK TOGETHER!!!!" lol.

Idk if this will help anyone but i thought it was a good bit of info to add. Thanks for your posts they help alot. If anyone has any good info on B2's let me know!!!!:D

Dueling, does you 1986 Broncho have a 4.0 SOHC engine?

No, not yet lol. Thats what im hoping to drop in it as soon as we blow the 2.9 on the dunes.

I also wanted to say that i got my oil pump/pan/gasket all back in today, it was a PITA becuase it takes 2 sets of hands and i had to do it with one set lol. But she is in, the new gasket is in and i sand blasted and painted the pan before putting it back on to check for any holes. Looks good planning on putting the new clutch and tranny back in tomorrow.

Also grabbed a new water pump today and threw it on. May as well.

So far i have put in new:

gas tank
fuel pump
all bearings in rear end
brakes
front lockers
Pioneer deck with eclipse speakers
new tires
water pump
oil pump
oil pan gasket
cold air intake
clutch

Plan on:

add a leaf and shocks in back
bigger coils in front
bigger rims/tires
painting the whole truck with Herculiner

This truck is all for Silver Lake Sand Dunes so give me any pointers on things i should put into it. THX
