Thread renamed (again )

Go for a rear locker first.

You will suffer in steering when you weld the front end

Some other suggestions, mud tires, unhook or quick disconnect the front sway bar, air down the tires, a winch.

Lock the rear first, selectable locker for the front or a limited slip in the front.

i got 38s for free, but im afraid to put them on everybody said that the overdrive will mess up, can't i just drive around in regular drive?

The 38's might make a premature death for the auto(if thats what you have) 4:88's or 5:13's would be a better choice for a tire that size. While doing a gear change it would be the best time for a locker.

If you're driving this thing on the street, dont weld the front, you'll be destroying hubs just parking your vehicle on Saturdays at the mall.

Welding the front is OK if you are running a trailer queen in a mud bog otherwise it is a bad modification. You will loose your ability to turn around in anything less than a 40-acre field, and the stress on the front axles will cause tham to fail prematurely. If you must lock the front you should save your pennies and get a selectable locker.

FYI 38s will destroy you front axle.

As for welding the front diff it all depends.. There are pros and cons.. Welding the front is cheap and will greatly improve your offroad traction. But as they say too much of a good thing can be bad. On loose surfaces and mud your fine, but when you're tires have 100% positive traction all the time it can be difficult to navigate some close trails (basically you'd need to get out and unlock a hub to prevent the truck from crab walking).

my front is ,locked soild because of a malfunction in my locker and it isnt that bad.

Just weld it and make sure to unlock the hubs before you hit pavement.

thanks for the help, befor this weekend i will weld the gears, i won't drive on pavement in for wheel drive.

I could'nt tell from the pics but you should invest in some manual hubs first. You can get some used ones from either here or the rangerstation.com. I got both of my warns for 40 bucks.

If you disassemble the front end to weld the axle/spider gears, you need to replace the ring and pinion at the same time. Disassembling the front end is a PITA and in case you haven't looked, there is not a differential cover to remove to do the welding.
