EDIT. the title should say "ON 2000 sport"

I'm just moving over to my 2000 ex from the 96 and I don't know much about this model yet. It has been sitting for a while and doesn't want to give fuel. I'm wondering if this issue is related in any way and is it normal.

When I lock up the car, close the doors and turn everything off the "THEFT" light on dash flashes about every 2 seconds. Is this normal ? Is this a theft deterrent or something, does everyone else's Theft light flash after you park your car ?

Besides that I get no fuel or whine from the pump. Relays and fuses are fine.

Thanks

My 98 is the same. I can't hear the pump either - probably due to hearing damage.

Owners manual here:
Dead Link Removed

If a door is open, the system is prearmed and is waiting for the door to
close. The theft indicator on the instrument cluster will be lit
continuously when the system is prearmed.

Theft indicator
The theft indicator on the instrument cluster will operate as follows:
When the ignition is OFF, the theft indicator will flash briefly every 2
seconds to indicate the SecuriLocky system is protecting your
vehicle.
When the ignition is turned to RUN or START, the theft indicator will
light for 3 seconds and then go out. If the theft indicator stays on for
an extended period of time or flashes rapidly, have the system
serviced by your dealership or a qualified technician.

Thanks scucci . I bought mine used and never got the manual with it.. So everything would indicate my system is OK as it flashes exactly every 2 seconds.

Some of the things I narrowed it down to are the PCM or inertia switch. All my fuses and relays seem fine, the car starts if can mange to squeeze some fuel in there. just no fuel pump noise I first turn the key.

Sorry, I didn't read the "no fuel" from the pump part. You need to check for voltage at the pump when the key is first turn on. Could be just a wiring/connector problem. My 98 starts every time and has good fuel pressure, I just can't hear the pump.

You should always hear the pump on these. both my 96 and 2000 make a whine when you first turn the ignition. You are probably just used to it. It's a big hollow tanks and I can't see the pump being silent. Mine actually made the sound for the first time and then it stalled out and stopped making the sound, and the fuel reset light flashed.

I don't think the pump is the problem. I'm pretty sure it is the computer or electrics. I will disconnect it and put 12v to it to hear for the whine.

Even if there is an anti-theft issue (which there isn't in this case), the fuel pump will still prime when the key is turned on.

Check for power at the fuel pump connector leading to the fuel pump. If you have power, then replace the pump. Otherwise, if there is no power, inspect the wiring, relay and fuse.
