Shudder During Last Gear Change

My Explorer is shuddering with the last gear change. It goes away once I turn OD off. What does this point to? I saw some previous threads on this, but can't seem to find a clear answer.

Sounds like an overdrive/overdrive band problem. The band is probably gone if it is high mileage. Torque converter shudder could also be concern but the converter should apply in 3rd gear also.

Is there a good way to confirm that before ripping the transmission apart?

when it does shudder lightly tap the break enough to turn the brake lights on and if the shudder goes away then the torque converter solonoide is bad. just my 2 cents
