Hi There All . I have an 11 EX LTD in Burgandy that requires a new side mirror due to being completly full of moisture. My question is if the painted portion on the top requires to be dealer painted , or if it will come already painted from Ford. Thx.

Not 100% sure but I had to have the right front sensor replaced and it had to be painted by the dealer's body shop. I'm guessing it will likely have to be painted. But like I said, it's just a guess.

Did you ask the parts guy and to show you a diagram? Most of the time it'll say on there system. Painted or Not, I'm sure they can order it painted from the factory.

If it's full of moisture it should be under warranty...no?

The paint code is probably in the part number. They might be able to swap your current one to the new guts.

So you are saying you have a "broken" spare mirror laying around?! :) In that case, could you try to find a way to access that puddle light bulb? And if you do find a good way, mind sharing the findings? That would be great. Thanks!

My thought exactly CDN, help us! I had a beer every night staring and trying figure out the puddle light! Time to get more beer! Lol

This is a known issue. Do a search here on "moisture" in the 2011 section and you'll find lots of posts. They do get fixed under warranty. My driver's side turn indicator in the back of the mirror was full of water and it was replaced under warranty.

JDraper is correct,I started the thread on the moisture in the lamp. The lamp is replaced without removing or harming the mirror.I had both sides replaced about 4 months ago or so.Only problem is the moisture is back again.I have not been to the dealer since seeing the new moisture problem.

hey all...i just spoke with customer care at ford because my explorer has had these issues almost since day one. i am on my third passenger side mirror and second driver's side. what customer care told me is that they are starting to 'index' the problem which means that once they get enough complaints about it, they will open an investigation into the part design which could result in a redesign so we can all get some mirror signals that don't leak water. but everyone who has this problem has to call the customer service line and let ford know that they are having an issue. if enough people don't complain, no investigation, no new part. here is their number: 866-631-3788.
