Hey there guys, with Circuit City going out of business, I just picked up a Kicker Comp C12 and a sealed box for $100 all together. Looking first off for which amp you guys reccomend. Im not looking to break the bank, but I dont want ****ty qualuty. I do know that this sub is 300W peak with 150RMS. Also need the wiring-for-dummies explanation. This is going into my 2002 Explorer. Get me hooked up with the info guys, I want to get this done in the next couple of days if possible.

Thanks,

Chris

as far as wiring for dummies, power goes to the battery, ground to bare metal in the car, remote turn on to a switched ignition source, signal cables to either rear or sub output of aftermarket head unit. if you have a stock head unit, you will need a line output converter. if you need to know about wiring your sub in the box and from the box to the amp, look here: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=145

for your amp, the ohm load of your set up needs to be known to make sure we would suggest a compatible amp. let us know the ohm load and we can give suggestions.

According to the manual that came with the sub, the Comp C12 can be either 4 or 8 amp. I believe this means it can be "bridged", right?

Not so sure about that but you mean 4 or 8 ohms. any sub woofer can be bridged its the amp that matters. if the amp doesnt have the right resistance the sub will actually start pushing power back because the resistance is higher causing the amp to blow. your best bet is a small mono channel amp since your only running one sub no sense in complicating things with multi channels and bridging.

That amp is perfect for you its 150 watts RMS and 150 @ 4 ohms its a mono channel so no need for bridging and its got all your crossovers and such to tune the sub. plus a wired bass control. plus its not too expensive.
