Sky jacker 4 or 6 inch lift ?'s

Well, I was pondering the idea of getting a combo of the skyjacker 2" and a 3" body for my 91 explorer 2wd, but I heard from someone that the body lift can be pretty dangerous, so I figured I would go with the skyjacker 4" or maybe the 6" lift. But I have heard from most of you guys that the 6" requires a spring over in the rear, but I called Skyjacker and the guy I talked to said that I wouldn't have to do it on the 4" or the 6", and that all I would have to do is put in the new rear springs?? What is the right answer? If it doesn't then I would love to get it, but if it does then I wouldn't really want to have it done because I don't have the cash for that right now.

Your dealer was correct when they said that the skyjacker 4" and 6" kits uses new leaf springs in the rear. The axle still mounts above the springs. On the other hand, the Superlift brand 5.5" lift does use a backet that repositions the axle under the springs. So you can still use your stock springs. Both ways works it's just depends on what brand of lift you want.

Hey there Demon, thanks for the response. I will probably end up getting the skyjacker, cause it doesn't require a spring over, and they make a lift for 2wd explorers and superlift doesn't.
