Ok I have a few questions on a SkyJacker 6" Lift.

I know SkyJacker has different Classes of Lifts. But on 4wheelsparts.com website, it only has 1 class for the 93 Ford Explorer(4x4). On SkyJackers website there isnt even a 6" lift for the Ford Explorer (4x4). Why is this??

Also about 4wheelparts.com website, does anybody know what that comes with?

Anybody know a better dealer to go threw for a Skyjacker 6" Lift?

Thanks

for sure go with class II. It is the same lift for the ranger in the front. I believe you need to go Spring over in the rear. I'm living pretty close to you and planning on going Solid Axle, meaning I might have the lift you want to buy on my truck which will be useless, plus I see you want Rockcrawlers, I have one on my spare that will not fit.

Let me know if you want to check it out sometime

I heard they were gonna do some sort of redesign for the explorer lift, but I dunno if that happened. Class II ranger front ends are supposed to work (6in) and then ya just do a SOA in the rear.
I love my skyjacker class 2 lift. It's taken alot of abuse in 3 years... only thing wrong is paint scraping off, but when ya hit rocks, that's kinda hard to avoid.

DannyBoy im interested. How good of condition is it in? Im probably just going to do a SOA in the rear. So you have a 6" Class 2? Whats everything that it comes with?

Bump...Anywhere know a good place to get a class 2 6" for a 93?

New? I got my class II for like 1200-1400 w/ shipping from National Tire and Wheel in West Va

Thanks, was it just for the front?

Yup, sellers only offer the front lift. The rear has to be all custom. (SOA). I love mine!!

Pete's was that much because he has the extended radius arms. I've got radius arm drop brackets. Send me a Pm and you can take a look at mine. I'm considering ripping apart the truck this evening-tomorrow to find out what is going on in my front diff. If my locker isn't all messed up I might fix it or throw in my open diff but if I get crazy I might just rip my whole lift off.
For your info
the 6" kit includes
2 4-6" TTB drop brackets
2 6" coil springs
2 shocks
2 radius arm drop brackets or extended radius arms ($$)
1 drop pitman arm
2 extended sway bar links and extended brake lines are usually included, but I know Ryan1 got a steal of a deal on a new one but it didn't have the sway bar links.

If I sell mine I'd like to get rid of everything except the drop pitman arm, brake lines and sway bar links, which can all be purchased from 4wheel parts in Mesa.

so the skyjacker 6" class II is actually for a 4x4 ranger? what years? 89-92? i was thinking about cut and turned beams, but it is starting to look like it is more trouble than its worth....... from all the ranger boards (rrorc, and trs) everyone that advises against them say the skyjacker class II is awesome....... do they have the class 2 in a 4" lift? that was really i was looking for, but wont mind 6" if i have to lift it that much for the extra durability of the skyjacker class II

To get mine, I had to call skyjacker to get the part numbers for the lift kit, then I called 4wheel parts and told them the part numbers to get the kit. The drop brackets are the same for the 4 and 6" kit. The only real difference between the 2 are the length of the coil springs. Yes they do make a class II for a 4". Personally, I would just go with the 6" though. With the 6", you can fit 33's real easy. The kit for the ranger will fit on the explorer too.
Personally I love the skyjacker class II, but if I were to do it again, I would just do the SAS conversion instead.

Good luck. If you have any questions with the skyjacker, just let me know.

actually, i only want 4" but am not going to go sas.... and also, i am going to fit 35s with 4" lift as well.... i plan on doing major trimming, to the point where all the fender apron/front clip does is support headlights and the radiator.... i will be running 35s.....

Yeah, you will be totally stoked about the class II lift though. it is sweet. Very strong too. the plate steel on the radius arms are much thicker than stock radius arms where it hooks up on the front axle. I dont think you could really bend the radius arms either, because I've had my whole front end just supported by the radius arms, and they were totally fine (minus paint). I would not recommend any other lift for 4x4 fords with TTb. Now if you were 2wd, I would totally recommend the fabtech lift with the cut and turned I beams, but that is a different story.
I plan on going bigger soon too. Either 34's or 36's. I will be goning with super swampers. If I go 36's, I will have to trim ALOT!! I already had to trim some with my 33's.

i was actually originally thinking of the cut and tuned beams for 4" .... but after a little of research, it looks like hte class 2 skyjacker is the best... and will probably be cheaper in the long run..... what years is it for? just 89-92? i want to start researching it some more as a ranger lift......

the part numbers I got were for a 91-94 X, but I'm sure any year of ranger with the TTB's ( I think till '95 ) should work with the 1st gen explorers.

there is an actual pn for the 6" class 2 explorer? all i saw on the skyjacker site was class one stuff, a lot more limited than what i thought....... anyways, as it doesnt really matter than, i will just get it for a ranger...... also, i plan on 35s with cutting.... i have also heard that skyjacker 6" springs really only deliver 4.5"... :) i didnt want to lift higher than 4" anyways, so i am still right where i want to be... :) now the last question.... 4.56s? or lower?? i think the next available gearset is 5.13..... dont want those !!!

If you want real close to stock gearing with the 35's, then you would want 4.56's. otherwise, if you want more of a crawling ratio, then 4.88's would be the way to go. You don't want 5.13's till you get bigger than 36's.

My skyjacker 6" springs gave me about exactly 6". It is even with my rear soa which I know is at least 5.5" or more.

.....You don't want 5.13's till you get bigger than 36's......

I'm not sure that I would agree with that Andy. The 91 Sport I just bought from Luis has 5.13 gears and 35's. I think the combination is awesome. When you can squak the tires especially 35's, well you got my attention. I haven't tested crawl ratio yet, still fixing stuff on it.

Yeah, its all in what you want to do. For a strictly trail rig I guess 5.13's would be nice for crawlin. Wouldn't have to put it in 4x4 low untill you REALLY needed it. On the highway it probably wouldn't do to well though. My combo that I'm gonna do once I get to AZ is goning to be 4.56's with a locker in the rear (haven't decided which one yet. Waiting on the e-locker) and one in the front (quick lock) plus I will be getting an Atlas II with a 4.1 low range, so I won't need real low axle gears, and will still be able to run on the highway pretty well. Even if I go up to 35-36" tires, I will still be pretty close to a stock ratio. More than likely I will just get the 34" super swampers. They are cheap, and I won't have to trim much more. Always a good thing.

That sounds like a nice set-up. Your right highway driving with 5.13's is rough especially when the O/D isn't working. I can't wait til the wind down here stops so I can get out and do some work on the trail rig. It needs to have all the front bushings and ball joints replaced. I expect to basically rebuild it and then do some modifying to it. I think I am going to have some custom radius arms made for it.
