:cool:got my free steel(1/4") and some lights($40) today i cut it up a lil but ive got plenty more to do
the sliders will be pretty plain compared to some on the site as you can see and yes i am cutting the angle and bolting it to the frame
i am unsure about the lights as they r 8" and i dont know if they will look right on the bumper on brackets like hokie designed
any tips or ideas would be appreciated thanks

What exactly are sliders?

"Rock sliders" - steel bolted to the frame below the rocker panels to protect the rockers from getting crushed off roading and to allow the truck to "slide" over rocks that would normally damage it.

Sliders protect your rocker/door jamb area by allowing the truck to slide over rocks or breakovers on them instead of the body (which can't take that kind of abuse).

I want some made for me.. I wouldn't have gotten high centered like I did last night.... Or would I?

Hell, I wasn't even driving.. if it was me.. I wouldn't have gone off the track... lol..

And then when she went off, hitting the pile of icey snow crap.. she let off the gas....Told her to keep goin... but.. too late.. =|

Your sliders look like a good start- you've got pretty much the same steel I used. You will need some braces going up higher on the frame for your final design, as it is now, it won't have the strength you need.

Search and look at some slider builds, you will see what I mean.

Storlid: Try this link whenever you want to know what something is. ;)

It wouldn't stop you from high-centering, but it would protect your rockers if you did.

You can see IZWack and JDraper's sliders in these pictures. IZ's are green, Jeff's are black. He makes his own, and if you weren't in Alaska I'd tell you to take a drive over to his place some weekend so he could fab you up a pair. That's what I'm going to do soon.
