Happy Friday! I’m doing a bunch of mechanical work on the vehicle but also want it to look half decent. I was going to replace both rockers and I was wondering if someone can tell me if this would be covered by the slip on rocker or is it getting into the body panels? I know little about body work so it’s very overwhelming. (1997 2 door)

thanks for your time, excuse the very dirty vehicle hah.

I have a 95 4 door and last year replace my rockets. The picture you show, look like a body panel. The rocket are behind the trim and into the door opening. I also brought rocket from rock auto for cheap money; for the time it took to fabricate the rockets and the door corners areas, it was cheaper too buy them. I saw other car makes rocker & kits made on plastic. I thought rockauto was the same because of the price, but no it is metal. Now I have them for the next time.

dont use slip on rockers. the only thing they do is hide rust, not fix it
I’m hoping to just hide the rust and give the silver moulding something to clip into. I don’t want to put big money into the body :/

That all the plastic rocker do. YouTube has some video on other makes replacement. I also had to make up panels on the inside. Its just a 90 degree panel with beads in the panels. The trim clips, drop out and get lost. That is one thing you have too do, is drill holes in the new rockers too install the trim clips. I use some cardboard to make a template of the holes. I don't remember if the Rock auto rocker have the holes. The clips I pickup in the junkyard. It seems the clip same from year to year. I also got some remain clip from a fellow member. I did a lot of welding.
