Slipping out of Park

My 2002 Sport Trac has recently been slipping out of park. It makes a knocking sound and the truck rolls. I have to place it in park two or three times before it it catches like normal. Any advice on how I can fix this? Truck has 123K on it now.

The shifter cable just needs adjusted, easy fix. I did mine a couple summers ago and it works great. I'll look up the link for you and post it.

Here's the link to my thread on the same issue and the link to BillJ's how-to fix is linked in it from IamTodd. I used a 3lb hammer and ziptied it to the end of the shifter for weight leverage.

Thanks to everyone who offered advice, I found that I had two loose screws on the shifter connector under the dash. I fixed it with a T25 screw driver.
