I have a 94 2wd. The A4LD has 267K miles on it. I know it has been slipping for a little while now. But it still gets up and goes when I need it to. Any idea of how much longer she'll last. My father told me that he could hear it slipping. What exactly should I be listening for? It doesn't seem to be hurting the truck right now.

If I was to replace / flush the system, would that hurt anything / make it worse? Several people have told me to do this. But I'm afraid I might break loose some crud thats holding it together and have some major problems! Will the flush prolong problems?

The color of the fluid is a dark red. No burnt smell to it.

Thanks.

Slipping trannies do not make a noise.... the engine rpm''s may run up a little is all... go read the thread about Brake fluid in the trans... it may give you some ideas how to squeeze a few more miles out of your tranny, which has alreday given you GREAT service to this point if it has that many miles !

Now thats interesting! Worth a shot. I'm hoping to get another 5 months out of it. I should be back overseas by then and won't need it. She definitely has taken care of me. Am sure of the mileage. Bought her at 80k. Dropped a new engine in at 185k. Think she's about had it now. Thing about it is that I have had her for so long, most of the stuff on her has lifetime guarantees now! Hate to get rid of it! If only it was 4wd!
