Okay folks, before the bashing begins, I tried to use the search feature to look into this problem, put I am a gearhead /Bomb builder and just learned how to spell komputer. Question I pose is this; My 93 sport use to start with a flick of the key, now the motor turns over appox. 4-5 times before it catches. haven't change my starting /driving habits. I was thinking fuel system pressure issue? like to get this fixed real soon so my wife can drive while I am on "vacation" in kuwait this christmas.

Sounds at first glance like a fuel pressure issue. Does the fuel pump always pressurize the system when you turn the key to "on"?

Could be an old fuel filter, faulty fuel pump relay (not if the fuel pump always comes on), fuel pump that's starting to go, or a few other things.

First things first, how old is the fuel filter?

Fuel pump always comes on for appox 5-10 seconds as always, Filter is appox 1.5 years old. plugs and wires are 3 months old, mas has been cleaned in the last year

Try turning the key to "on", pause while the FP whines, then shut off, then turn key to "on", wait for the FP to whine again, then turn to start and see if it turns over any quicker. If it does, chances are the check valve in the FP is going bad and allowing gas to drain back into the tank. So when you go to start, it takes longer for the lines to pressurize and get gas the injectors and you have your slower start.

tried the cycling twice trick, no change. Almost sounds as if it is a flooding stage, I get that huf' through the air cleaner when i let off the ignition, of course this problem is intermittant, everything else seems fine. I really want to get this fixed so the better half will not have any problems with my truck when I do go

This happed to me about 2 years ago and it turned out to be the starter. I replaced it and the truck started like new. Six months later same problem, the truck would turn over fast but would not start for several seconds and sometimes not at all. Well.....another starter and I away I go. It is now a year later and I have the same problem again. I havn't done anything yet but I am assuming it is the starter again!!!
