i am pretty much bone stockright now an i want to put a small lift on my 94 sport. the rear end is sagging a little so i was thinking 2 1/2" shackles in the rear and 2" coil spacers in the front. does anyone have any ideas on the price (total project) and how difficult this will be? will in need new shocks when i do this? i have cheap ones in the front and airshocks in the rear. also post pics if you have any with about the same lift as i would like.

Thanks,
Devon

are coil seats and spacers the same thing and i cannot find any spacers for explorers anywhere online

the coil seats are better and cheeper, but they do make spacers....not 100% where, think there some on e-bay....

the coil seats for the f150 don't need to be modded to fit the X do they?

Spacers are made by daystar

F150 coil seats are a factory ford part that we use to lift the front end 1.75" but if you have 2wd like me you will need the bolts that connect the radius arm to the i-beam from a 4wd explorer or else you wont be able to fit the nut over the coil seat.

these are their part numbers
F2TZ5A307A Ford Coil Spring spacer
F2TZ5A307B Ford Coil Spring spacer

Warrior shackles only come in 1.25" lifts anything else you have to have custom fabricated

To correct the sag in the rear I would suggest add-a-leaf

Another suggestion is the skyjacker 2" lift kit it has 2" springs for the front and an add-a-leaf kit for the rear.

Prices

Daystar Spacers- $100

F150 Coil Seats- $60

Warrior Shackles- $70

Add-a-Leaf- $90

Skyjacker 2" Kit- $250

They don't need to be modded but if you have 2wd you will need to get the radius arm/i-beam bolts off a 4wd ex from a junkyard because the factory ones are two short to fit the nut on the threads for a 2wd.

Also you will need an alignment

Trust me I just went through the process... I felt so clueless on explorer suspensions... I was embarrassed from all my stupid questions but I had to ask them anyways. I encourage you to get out there and do it yourself thats how you learn. I learned from this forum and wrench time.

i think i will go with the shackles first to see if i will need the aal or not and then do the coil mounts so im not driving around with my nose up in the air

Here are some lift kits on ebay for an explorer. It's the spacers I used on mine and sofar they are working great. I used AutoZone shackles for the rear. I just made me a spacer and added a bolt in the shackles for extra strength. They are working great.

H8Imports... I noticed you have the 2" lift with 32's... I'm considering the same thing. Did you need to do any trimming or anything, or do you have any rub? How wide are your tires?

Yea i would be interested in a seeing a picture of it with the 2 inch lift and the 32's before you put the bigger lift on.

If I were you i would consider new rear springs. Stock replacement springs are realitively cheap and will give you a nice lift in the rear, if your current springs are sagging and worn out.

An add-a-leaf will lift an explorer up 2"? How about the front coils. Are the 2" lift coils just taller? Are there other mods you have to do for a small lift?
I can only find rear springs at the dealership (maybe I need to look harder) and they are not cheap.(Mine are sagging) Where are they "realitively cheap"?

For sagging springs you can do a number of things... you can either use an AAL, get a new/used leaf pack, or you can rip yours apart and replace most of it with one out of an F150 with a towing package... I can't remember exactly the year, but I think it's a '91 with 5 leafs, not 4. There is a write-up on it somewhere... I remember seeing it, just can't remember if it was in this forum or another one.

As far as I know though, an AAL is the easiest method of "fixing" sagging leafs... as for the lift, I think the 2" coils are just taller, but any time you lift the front you will need an alignment... also, anything above 2" will require drop brackets/new brake lines/whatever else...

BTW, I feel like being an ass-******* and saying: Read the entire thread before you post... the information was a whole dysfunctional four posts above... and there have been enough lifts done on this site that a little search usually goes a long way...

Doesn't bother me that your being an "ass-*******". Although I found this site in Aug i've learned alot in navigating this site in the last two hours and yes, I found alot more info. I just now have to go find out what AAL means. So take care, i'm sure i'll see you around.

Btw, thanks for the response

Hahahah... no worries...

And AAL stands for Add-A-Leaf... the name is pretty much self-explanitary...

I will find a pick and post up of mine before the lift. I had 265/75 17's (They are equal to 32's.) on my explorer stock. They rubbed when I back up and turned. When I put the 2" lift I had no rubbing concerns. I pulled my front swaybar off and they rubbed every once in a while but only when it was flexed out pretty bad. I have pictures of the explorer stock flexed on a stump in my yard. I have 33/12.50 on there now. They rub so I'm putting a 3 bl on this weekend. I will post pictures up as soon as I can.
