Smell

When i put on a bass test in my x I smell something burning after a while, any ideas on what it is?

Probably your amp. But I could be wrong.

hmm

tell us your amp and subs and we can help. I'd grant that it's the sub(s) not the amp, few amps will smell and still work, but high power subs consider smell "breaking in" sometimes.

I can smell my rockford sub "heating up" when pushed hard.

Well, not to dis the system, I'd say that your smell is the subs about to Voice coils getting too hot, My guess is that what ever song or Songs you play that loud, the sub is playing around tuning freq of the ported enclosure, causing the subs to have minimal movement and overheat. OR you could be clipping the amp sending badly distorted signals to the subs which is just as bad.

The only time it smells is when i put the subs up really loud and put on some bass tests. Also, we tested some L5's in this same box and the harts sounded better.
