Sneaky pics of my new enclosure

Hartman it looks great so far, have a couple of questions, how thick are you planning to go with the glass and after doing all the fiberglass for this and the rollpan are there brands/types of resin to avoid or that you think are better then others.

Thanks

i have a question..are u going to do anything to tie it into the truck at all? it just seems to stand there right now

not that that is bad but with the roll pan and such u made the truck have a much nicer flow so i thought u might be planning something to make the sub enclosure flow with the interior

again no offense it looks awesome i was just wondering

I don't plan anymore shaping. I wanted to make something that I was able to remove from the rear if I needed to.

I'm thinking 3-4 layers of glass.

OK I got most of the major shaping done and the 2nd layer of glass is layed. I need to lay one more layer and then start the body work.

My Kicker KX850.2 is in the mail and should be here by Tuesday. By then, I should be to the body work. When I get the amp, I'm gonna hook it all up and see how it sounds and make sure the 'glass is thick enough.

Stay tuned for pics!

OK guys, I got my KX850 today, it is sweet! Tomorrow morning is "test day."

As for the enclosure, all of the glass work is done and I've started with the filler. I am using Evercoat Rage Gold for this fiberglassing project. I must say, this body filler is very very superior to many of the "consumer" oriented body fillers! Very nice to work with.

Where'd you buy it at? (the body filler) Kicker amps are great... I love my 4ch!

I got it from Napa. The Napa by my house carries a lot of body shop oriented supplies, I'm not sure all Napa's have it.

awesome can't wait to see the finished product :)

You have access to some meters to let us know what it runs? This reminds me, I need to go today and see how mine is doing. They have had all week with uninterrupted work. I need to bug them today.

I don't have any meters or anything but I am going to get it metered after everything is finished. Hopefully I can be in the 140-150db range.

Me too. To be honest, I hope to bust the 150 mark. Those are my intentions anyways.

Yea, the Bostons should be plenty loud with the 2 500 Alpine amps pushing them. With the correct enclosure they will crank.

why is the body filler so much better to work with?

Well it fills better, sands a lot easier, and is stronger.

Hartman, I wonder, how did you make your center dash console so smooth? I've tried sanding it and then spraying vinyl spray, but it doesn't give me that look (the one you've achieved), the look I want to have.

you have to sand off the rubber finish on it. What was the highest count sandpaper you used?

I used grade 400 to sand it. Isn't that enough?

I don't mess around, I started with 80 grit and worked my way up.
