Hey, I was wondering if anyone has put on a snorkel for their X. If you did have one, how deep would you be able to get in water before something else else happens?

Does anyone have pics to show???:D

Thanks!!

The depth would depend on your breather hoses for your trans, diffs and everything else...that would be the mechanical concern. There are certain steps to take to water proof the ignition and such. Last consideration is the condition of the seals for your interior. I know that my driver's side would definately leak. Go to our sister vehicle web page: http://www.therangerstation.com

They have detailed instructions about a snorkle. If you get it in let us know how you protected everything else and where you found water when you test it.

I checked out the site. It has some pics of snorkels and stuff about them, but it doesn't say how to water proof your engine. Does anybody know? Maybe I was looking in the wrong place.

oso_polar's buddy in venezuela put a snorkel on his X.. search around and you'll find it. you can see it in the "first late model with a solid axle" thread too.. i'd copy a link here but i'm lazy..

The explorer has a DIS instead of an ignition coil so you should be fine on that.

If you really wanna get detailed about it though, put vaseline on all your electrical connections.

But if you're going that deep in the water, expect to lose your alternator. Not much you can do about that one.
