So we had over a foot of snow where I live (mountains north of Los Angeles). The Explorer did great in the snow, even with the stock 21" Street Package wheels and Pirelli's. I used both the Deep Sand/Snow mode and the Slippery mode, they both seem to engage the front drive 100% of the time while the Deep mode disables the traction controls and locks you in lower gears.
Got to drive around and see plenty of FWD cars that were stranded and stuck.
