I'm looking into getting the Western Suburbanite plow for my explorer. I've attached a picture. I don't intend to use this commercially, just for myself. I think it's pretty cool, and it only weighs 250 lbs. And if my tranny does go, well thats all the more reason to do a v8 swap this summer ;)

very cool..we use our f-250 for plowing tho..but if it's all you have...

i think someone else has one around here has one says it works good i think you may need a front hitch though. just put it in low range and your tranny will be fine

in my moms 96 manual it says do not attach a snowplow to it...... i htink it is the same for your truck.... it might mess with the airbag sensors and other things....

i donlt know how well it is going to work with your lift

Yeah I wish I had an f250 for plowing, but oh well.

I doubt ford would like a plow attached to the explorer, but oh well, I'm sure they don't reccomend lifts kits either :p

As far as it working with the lift, I have to see what the installer says, they're pretty good, and it's able to move up and down due to terain, so we'll just have to see if it will work with the 2" suspension lift (keep in mind the bl doesn't matter here).

The place near me who does the best (and most expnesive installs) wants $2800 installed. Not great, but not terrible.

an extra 250# on your bumper is going to make the airbag sensors really sensitive.....

only if he has arc witch i doubt he has

xlt's don't have arc!

how is it that new truck's 250-up plow with air bag's and never have one go off?

i think he ment the airbag as in the one in the steering wheel

Nope, don't got it. The biggest problem I can see is the tranny, and with that in mind, I'll do my best to take it easy and stay in 4low. Other than that I just need to figure out why it's worth it for me to eat the $3,000 for another reason than its real cool. I mean at $40 a pop for my driveway to be plowed now, it's hardly economical to drop $3000 on this.... but oh well if we always did the economical thing there'd be a lot less mods going on around here ;)

I just hope I don't chicken out :p

i think, what may be best for you is find a beater truck..a used plow and use that..save your X from a slow death..

here's our 91 250,with 01 boss plow

I'd really like a 92 f250... but it's just not in the cards at this point...

you could prolly get a beater/used plow for the same price of the X plow..i just tryin to help

Yeah, I though about that, but as a college student two vehicles (two insurance) isn't really practical. I can only wish...
