snow plow?

I have a 97 sport with torsion bar twist and 33 inch swampers. I live in snowy Buffalo. I am looking for a snow plow for my vehicle. Does anybody know what type of plow would fit? thanks

I don't know what kind of snow plow would fit, but I know pushing that snow will screw up your tranny and it would be ashame to ruin a '97.

I've had a few friends put plows on their trucks (Chicago winters aren't fun) and after the winter, they noticed a lot of problems with shifting and other small problems.

So before you actually do this, I would think about it, though I could be totally wrong too, these are just personal experiences.

The explorer is not designed to plow snow. The tranny is weak and the frame is not designed to hold the weight of a plow. I have seen plows made of I think fiberglass that were light weight designed for SUVs like the explorer. You will probably have to make modifications to handle the plowing.

Somewhere in the owners manual or on the door, it says that Explorers are not to be used for plowing. I forget where, but I am 100% positive I have seen it.

I saw a snow plow advertised for an Explorer in the Performance Products catalog. It costs around $3000. I saw an explorer recently with one of the plows on it, the plow is as wide as the truck and is about a foot high. Not worth the money if you ask me. You can buy a ****ty used truck with a plow for less than 3K.

I have a plow on my 97 sport. It works very well. Of course I only plow my drive area. Its about 200`
long. Its a Winter-Wolf made by
Snow Bear from Ontario. You can get them at Sams Club. $999.00
complete. I take it easy and dont overload it. Hope this helps you.
