well i got my tires today and theres bad news.... the tires are great but the guy calls me out to show me somethings... now the bad news... I need new shocks (front passenger side is shot i was thinking about getting new ones anyways), i might need new rotors(thought about getting those a while back), and new brake pads. :fire: :( .. i have some ideas of what i want, i was thinking in the line of rancho shocks, and some sort of slotted rotors, brakes.. hell i dont know. any recomendations on this stuff?? im kind of on a tight budget.

well if your on a tight budget I wouldn't suggest slotted rotors they're quite a bit more than stock rotors, the shocks won't be bad though. Goodluck.

well i guess i could rephrase its not super tight but i have some bills i can afford stuff but then im broke.

Honestly if a tire guy told you this, the first thing I would do is confirm that all of this stuff is actually bad.

I looked it looks fairly bad. the only work i dont do to my cars is tires. my dad and i do all the work to our cars.

possibly doing work this morning

well i think today will be that day. its my one day off before switching rotations from graves to day/swing. so i will hopefuly be doing work on my truck as well as my gf's 94 s10 4x4 i need to check the wheel bearings in both and i found a fantasic thread about brake jobs and shows how to get the wheel bearing out of a 1st gen X. and i have some cash just in case i need bearings for either or tools... :D hopefully not. just doing repacks would make my day. and then it will be bigger and worse things :splat:

speaking of my tires it takes more effort from my truck to move from a stop sign. should i regear up to 3.73 or what im not good with gears but im not sure my 3.55 are quite cutting it. too bad no one on here lived anywhere near me to feel what i am. its some what sluggish from stops.

We said you'd feel sluggish. It's part of the deal with bigger tires. Imagine 3.27's & an auto? :D

Lycan91,

To re-gear a 4x4......you need to do both axels......very expensive. As for being "sluggish"......it's a (almost)4000lb vehicle.......w/ a 160 hp motor.......don't expect, car like performance.

Aloha,Mark

my tires are 30/9.50 should it be sluggish thats not a huge jump.

Not a big jump, but they may weigh more then the old tires. Plus you actually lowered you gear ratio cause the diameter is now bigger overall. So your 3.55 is more close to 3.40 now.

would it be nessacary to regear im thinking probably not

i checked my wheel bearing the tire did rock a little bit so i tore it apart anyways and repacked it. it wasnt to challenging with the help of that thread.
