ok.. i know harry5150 and docvijay have an SOA with the monoleaf. i really don't want to go back to the monleaf but i really want to do an soa.

my question is.. do any of you see a way to do this without getting so much lift. all i have suspension wise up front is the TT. i think 3" in the rear and 1.5" up front would be fine... but not the normal 5"+ that most get from the SOA.

i understand why it works with the monoleaf.. and why it won't easily work with the 4dr pack, but i gotta get those dang things out from under the axle!

someone tried shortened shackles already and it didn't work.. so what else could be done?

i am also very interested in any ideas. I have the skyjacker 2.5" lift and would like to add a spacer to the front and do SOA in the rear to gain some clearance. Someone was talking about an SOA setup using lowering springs, did this ever come about?

If shorter shackles don't work then I don't think there's a way it can be done with the "stock" springs. You might want to get some ideas by looking at how Ranger guys lower their trucks as they are SOA stock.

Most of them go all out and just use a 'flip kit'

LOL, so they go SUA and we go SOA. That's what I figured.

yeah i'm almost thinking flatter springs is the only way without using the monoleaf..

i gotta figure something out though.. i really want soa but i can't afford to do something up front..

I've been wondering what would happen if you took a 4dr leaf pack, took it apart and turned each leaf over, so it was a 'frown' instead of a 'smile' (tech terms;) ), and then put it back together again in the same order. The main leaf would still be on top, in other words. The reversed arc should lessen the normal 5"+ of a SOA.

Opinions?

i would think the arch is too much for that. i'm thinking a custom set of springs is about the only way. i'm gonna go look good tomorrow at everything..

Wouldn't the :( leaf pack be effectively worthless? The only movement in the whole system would be via the shackle, right?

Unless you took it offroad...........it would be the one time that neg arc would be your friend!:D

That's what I was thinking... It seems like the main leaf would then be taking a massive amount of the load...

but if the mono leaf works why not use it? Take the spacers out and just put it in... Other than that I can only think about a leaf pack similar to what Cherokees have - pretty flat and these are over the axle instalations.

So mono leaf should be just fine.

(yeah, and I have one set for sale)

Yeah i'm going to try it with my mono leaf, one day. Some say it will go flat, but it pretty much is already flat

I know of two people off the top of my head that have done the mono leaf SOA, Docvijay and Henry***.

So far they are doing good, so i don't see any problem with it.

I am going to mount the spacer blocks on the top of the leaf, so they are where the axle was, so during flex they will hit the bump stops so i don't overcompress my shocks. I plan on doing this with the Superlift SOA box, jsut because i really really like where they place the shocks.

OK, i'm done rambling now

I will be doing the SOA with the monoleaf and one AAL at the end of the month, I will update this when it is done.

I was the one that tried to do it with shorter shackles, but it didn't work. Since i have the leaf pack, i tried to make the shackle short enought to compensate for the lift, but when i put the weight of the truck on them, the shackle was then to short to fall back so to say and let the springs take the load. I gave up cause i ran out of ideas. But by next week it should have a SOA on it!!:p

yeah but your soa is needed to even out now! that doesn't count josh! your vehicle will be way out of our league and beyond comparison!

i think i'll try the soa with the monoleaf again soon. glad i kept that sucker.
yomie and ssikora.. good luck and i'll probably do so as well.

so that's why you needed the stock shackles huh shaun?

yup. ;)
