Yep 223XXX here, only real problem now is the trans doesn't want to down shift right.

220+ and still rolling!

yah 252,00 here. third trans.

500 more miles and i'll be joining...

till then....:salute:

hey i here that the sohc have timing chain strech problems at about 120k is this true and any other probles you have incounted over the miles you have done cuz i just got a 2002 2 door sport with the sohc

I had the front tensionser and guides put in at 50,000 miles, along with the manifold gasket upgrade. Since then no issues. This engine is one of the best tuned and relaible I have ever owned. Never had any timing chain stretching issues.

The 5r55e also gets a bad rap, but I have only had to change the EPC solenoid with new bracket, and I did that around 175k. No issues since.

I hope to go another year, before I get the itch for something fresh. Ive owned it since 1999, bought it with 30,000 miles on it.

236,000 and all original... Im just lucky. :D

207,000 and no problems other normal wear and tear!

We should be more specific and say 200k+ without any timing chain-related repairs haha.

I do agree though....besides the timing chains issue, it seems like a great all around engine.

and per the member above. 200k w/no timing chain-related repairs or anything "major" happen. owned Her for 6yrs now, best $6k i ever spent..

219k in a '00 Mountaineer. Engine is great, door locks and crap wear out.

1999 4.0 SOHC EB, 201,954 as of today. Sounds WAY better than the 2000 XLT with 136,800 I had and just sold.

Maybe the best $2,280 I ever spent.

Well this is certainly comforting to hear since I just hit 88,000 miles on mine.

considering buying a 05 xlt with 160k miles for 2500 $ do you guys think its worth the money ?

98 sport with 240,000 all original and everything works fine.

Naaa, piece of junk! errr, now where exactly did you say it was located? :shifty_ey LOL!

With only 65k on my 98EB I may be driving it until I can no longer drive. Bought it last year with 61k one owner miles.
