i have a 97 ford explorer with the sohc 4.0 and the timing tensioners have broke. i replaced them and a few other timing componants and put everything back together and the motor doesnt want to start back up. i have a gut feeling that the timing is off. when i take the timing cover off this weekend, what is the best way to set the timing on the front side of the engine.

Thanks,
Ron

Did you use the special timning tool? It should have had insructions with it.

The cassettes and the primary timing chian update kit had complete instructions. Buying the parts separately does not. Did you check this web site on how to time the engine? This is not an easy engine to time, and a special tool is needed to do the job right

bought as a kit nn line did not have instruction do you know of a site i could check

What kit did you buy? Part number? I can email you instructions

If you could post a copy of that for everyone to enjoy, that would be great.

It's a PDF, and I can't copy the text. If you know how, PM me your email and I will send you the files...
