What year did Ford start putting the SOHC 4.0 motors in the Explorer? Did this increase the power/fuel economy from the previous motor? Did they ever put this motor in the Ranger?
The reason why I'm asking is at some point I would like to replace my 3.0 with a 4.0 in my 97 Ranger. I like to collect my parts way ahead of time so now would be a good time to start sourcing. My intentions would be to buy a complete wrecked vehicle and go from there. I would perfer to go with the SOHC. Thanks.
