ok, so since my SOHC is about to take a crap, ive decided that its time for a 5.0 swap. but as far as feasibility goes, i need to know what accessories will switch over (providing i have the brackets on the 5.0) will anything like the alternater, power steering pump and things like that swap? i know the starter prob wont. and also, sort of unrelated but i dont wanna start another thread, is the t-case adapter from AA going to keep the case in the position as it already is. i would be upset if my shifter didnt work anymore.

The shifter position would depend on how much length the 5.0 and its acompanying transmission add. Even if theyre the same length as the stock parts, you'll still have to add the thickness of the adapter.

Why would you want to keep the 4.0 parts, when youre swapping a 5.0? Buy a full engine atleast, to save yourself the headache. You're best off buying a full truck, that way whatever you need, is right there.

yes, i know i should get a whole truck but those arent very easy to come by around here. i want to keep the swap as cheap as possible thats why i want to re-use some of my old parts. plus complete engines with low miles are $$$ also.

The oil.

Just buy a complete drivetrain from a 98+ with the trans, T Case, wiring and PCM. If you get everything you need like the engine mounts, exhaust, radiator, fan, accessories, starter, all wiring, etc you will make this a bolt in swap that can be done in a weekend (assuming you can re-program the PATS in the new PCM to work with your key and module)

Buying a complete truck is the easiest cheapest way to get EVERYTHING you need, but of course not always possible.

And get the 5" adapter, not the 9" like I got. It should put you right around where stock is. Jamie will know more about it.
