SOHC or Push Rod

The SOHC engine issues are the "cam timing chain" parts. There are two cam chains, the brackets that encompass them, the two tensioners, and the jackshaft chain(like a normal timing chain).

All of the replacement parts for these are 2002 SOHC 4.0 part numbers. The answer is to replace both tensioners, cam cassettes, and the jackshaft chain. The SOHC requires special timing setting tools, and the rear cannot be done without separating the engine from the transmission. The recall never changed all of these parts, and it has expired anyway.

I have a 99 SOHC with 77k. I just went through changing these parts, while I have the body off of the chassis. Good luck,
Don

I have a 95 Limited with 4.0L OHV and I am now getting 17-18 mpg city and 25 mpg highway with no major modifications and 1 oz of acetone per 10 gallons of gasoline in each tankful. I love this OHV because of the simpicity and near bulletproof reliability. Sure, the SOHC has more power, which I have driven, but I am quite happy with my OHV and I'll stay with it for a while.
