Has anyone found a fix for the SOHC valve chatter between 2000 and 3000 rpm? Since I put on the new tires I can really hear it now unlike before when the mudders hid the noise.

It is dead on the mark too, from 2000 and right at 3000 it stops. Nothing before 2000 either.

I am using 93 octane now and it has decreased maybe by half.

To me this does not seem normal, but then again I am not an engine tech.

Any good info is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Matt

My ford dealer fixed my 2000-3000rpm rattle by replacing the rear tensioners and cassets... I'm pretty sure it still fixed it (Ie didnt wear down) but I can't tell that much with my magnaflow. It definatly fixed it at the time, but I still have a rattle when my AC comes on at idle that I think is the tensioners, but to be honest, I don't even care anymore, I just ignore it. It is a waste of time, the truth is, its just a noisy damn engine.

I had my tensioners and chains replaced once already...00M12 recall.

Ya, probably normal for our SOHC's....next time I am in the shop I'll have Ford have a listen and let them tell me if it is normal or not.

Thanks.
