solar power battery charger / maintainer or trickle?

which is better for leaving plugged in all the time for those just in case moments like i had a few weeks ago, i also deploy and leave my truck for 7 months so should i get a trickle chrager or a maintainer.

Get the maintainer which should be a "floating" charger. That is they cut off when the battery reaches a specific voltage so it won't over charge the battery and cook cells.

any specifiic choice of brand, since i dont have a garage i cant get one that plugs into a wall. most i read about have a limiter that also keeps it from reversing the flow of electricity as well.
