Solenoid and valve body?

I just ordered a new front suspension from 1Aauto. So now I need a new solenoid pack and want to swap the valve body at the same time...my code on the door is v so I have the 5r55s. But where to get the parts???

Thanks for your advice....

I have not bought many trans. parts, but have heard Rock Auto is very good. The stuff I HAVE bought from them was good, very good attention to detail, quick shipping, family-owned company. imp
 






Id do servos before the solenoids..im doing mine right now.

 












Can you do the servos with just dropping the pan?
You dont need to drop the pan..click the link in the video and it will take you to their page,it has a video on how to do it..they are on the side of the transmission. Bad servos is what causes broken bands and normally should be done first

If I'm understanding correctly, in the first vid., they bore the wallowed-out actuator holes in the case larger, then press in bushings. The piston bore must be kept reasonably concentric with the actuator bore, the smaller diameter hole. This is rather difficult with the trans. still in the vehicle, not to mention turnings and chips of metal generated.

If I understand it right. Maybe I don't. imp

The drilling and pressing of a sleeve in is a different fix.if you watch the whole video they explain this..the link and 2nd video shows their fix..its a servo with o-rings.do a google search, people have put thousands of thousands of miles with this fix..

the trans does not need to come out for this fix..you remove the cat heat shields,drill a small hole inline with the ring,push the ring out and then pull servo out..i just did this ..took me maybe a hour..I'm literally cleaning up now.

@jd4242 I get it now, different fix. What I don't understand is if the hole in the case that the piston rod rides in is wallowed out, what keeps the new part installed from wobbling around, without cleaning up the diameter of the hole?

The small holes you drilled: they lie outside of the piston travel? If not, what seals them from leaking? imp

The hole isnt ""wallowed out"" out per say..its just worn,the servos will still be very tight in there..its just worn enough to let fluid by which doesnt take much..

The new rod wont ""wobble"" even if it didnt have the orings,its going to be TIGHT..the oring goes inside the bore and stops and fluid that might be getting by..

There is a cap ontop the servo,the a ring holding the whole assembly in..you drill exactly through the case into the ring groove..you then put something through the hole and push the ring up where you can get a screwdriver under it to pop out..

You dont have to drill the holes but getting a tool up there to squeeze the ring together is VERY difficult. .they sell a modified right hand needle nose pliers on their sit if you dont wanna drill holes..

Watch the 2nd video again and then again. .it shows step by step how to do it
 






I did the servos using the aftermarket units recommended here, make sure to do a band adjust afterwards...

I also replaced the solenoid as I was having some delayed shifting.

New solenoid all seem to be Bosch, make SURE to soak it well and get the unit tightened correctly....

Refilling my 55SRS was interesting...

Ordered parts today. Install next weekend.
 






Putting new vb and solenoid pack in tomorrow.
 












So it as from central valve body and the cost was $297.00. For new valve body and working a d tested solenoid.

Shifting from 2-3 was horrible and just tough for the other shifts. Id come off the highway in the morning from work and 30 feet off the highway it would shift then act like it was in neutral!

It was a long day I started at 2pm then stopped at 4 with headache and bad pain in my stomach. Puking a bit later! About 9 pm off the jacks!!! Messy jobbought 8 quarts of castrol and one red lubegard used all 8 and maybe less than half a quart came out.the raining of nasty but clean fluid was the worst!
Because most of it is in inch pounds I put my new $10.99 harbor freight torque wrench to use.

20 miles to drive home and it was perfect!!! Felt like a new car shifting!!!
Was going to change transfer case fluid at the same time but feeling horrible and had no fluid to do so...


Hopefully this is it for transmission woes as I have other issues to work on.
