2001 Ranger 4x4
Ok i am pretty new to 4x4's so please bear with me. I have a 2001 Ford Ranger and i want to put a Dana 30 in the front end. my reason behind this is that i will be able to lift it as much as i want within reason and have a better truck off road, and still have a daily driver. I know this can be done but the biggest problem i am facing is a way to keep my ABS i live in Seattle and with all the rain we have and this being my DD i really want to keep the ABS in the front. With the Dana 30 i would have more choices for front LS or lockers and it would have the same bolt patern as my current front end. Right now i have for tires 33x12.5.r15 BFG Mud's but would prob go up to 35's and regear it. Im looking for some information on the ABS thing and what jeeps or what ever i should look at to see about there current ABS and Dana frontend.

Thank you now for all the Info.

PS i know its not an X but i know more of u guys have done this on X's then i have ranger guys @ ORR

Sorry, I can't help on the ABS stuff. I am actually very interested myself. Just remember, if going to d30 and 35s, make sure you go d30 HP (reverse cut).

Personally, I would go with the D44, but you can get help at www.therangerstation.com. They have a write-up about the SAS, and you can write the autor and he can answer questions.

I am also interested in this. You could probably go over to www.jeepsunlimited.com and find out a whole bunch of stuff. Keeps us updated on what you find.

Happy trails!!

What's the advantage to the SAS, What will it do for me? Handling, snow, muddin, rain, fill me in, thanks..

Durability, reliability, flex, the ability to run larger tires, ground clearance (in some setups)....

I'm going to get mine so I can put on 35's without breaking my axle.

(I am not picking a fight, just throwing this out there)

Just curious, I mean to each is his own, why did you spend all the extra $$$ on an '02 Edge, if you were going to try this SAS? You realize with your current IFS frame that you have to lift it WAY up to keep the axle from hitting the frame? Just a thought. Unless you are just planning on being a REALLY hard core offroader (which it doesn't sound like it if this is you DD)then your IFS will probably work just fine for you. Plus say bye-bye to your warranty on a brand new truck that you will be paying on for years to come.

You know, I am wanting to do the exact same thing on my '98 X. I am not 100% sure, but I believe that you have to bypass your ABS system. I am living in high mountain country and have snow and ice to worry about, so I would like to keep mine also, but probably won't be able to.

No he didn't use a Rubi 44... he used a custom $4200 D44

ok my mistake... but if i could get ahold of a rubi d44 i wonder if i would be able to use the ABS?

yeah you could use the abs the system off the 92 up will work, thats what im using on my d30

just have to have an ABS axle and hopefully work out compatibity issues between systems
