2008 Ford Explorer V8 Drove fine yesterday afternoon. Went out last night and the truck started but was running real rough and when I gave it gas it tried to die. Turned off ignition and tried again same result. 3rd time it kind of got a little better idle so I decided to let it sit awhile. Came out 20 min later and it would not start at all. Same thing again this morning.
Engine turn but no start? I know there could be several issues here but the fact that it did start and ran crappy then would hopefully points a finger somewhere. Of course I had an Appt for my renewal inspection this morning and its freezing rain now. Any help is appreciated.

Sounds similar to another vehicle I had last year when the fuel pump went out. It didn't die completely at first but about seven miles later it did and had to be towed. Note, I did not say that is what happened to yours but it surely something to check.

Thanks BlackHawk! That’s what I’m leaning to on mine because it ran perfectly fine for 45 mi. Then when I turned it off I assume the fuel pump died. The little it did start and run afterwards was probably just sucking what gas was left in the lines. Was hoping for a smoking gun “I’ve seen that and it’s an easy fix” lol ordered fuel pump yesterday.

Come back and let us know if the pump does the trick. Good luck.

I got a code tester and it’s giving code p1237. Fuel pump driver module/fuel pump. I found the module behind the right rear tail light and jumped the connections to send direct current to the pump. I didn’t make a peep so I’m am digging into the pump next.

Well of course it was the fuel pump. Replaced pump and all is good now.

Thank you for the update.
