Some Kind of Leak ... With PICS!!

So I was looking under my truck today, and noticed that on the top left of my rear axle that there was a nice build up/leak of black greasey looking stuff. There is a hose that attaches to the axle that goes up and just ends. Is this bad?

The truck is the 4.0 SOHC, if that makes a difference.

That is the axle vent hose, and is supposed to end like that. The oily stuff may just be some fluid that got pushed out of the axle housing....I'd just clean it off and call it good. Doesn't look too far out of the norm for most Explorers.
