first the temp. on the overhead console is never right. compass is accurate, but temp. is always off, any suggestions? also what does it mean when I have it in 4wd auto or in fact 4wd low, the lights for them on the guage cluster blink every couple of minutes?

Well, i have no idea about the temp, mine doesn't have that opition. AUTO means that you are in 2wd until it senses the back wheels slipping then it kicks the 4wd in. If your 4wd lights are blinking then that is not a good thing. Means there is an error in the system. Does your 4wd work, meaning that it engages and you know that it is in? If so then that's probably good. We'll start there and then see what you've got!

Happy trails!!

o.k I have not used it in 4wd low yet, but when I switch it to 4wd auto I hear it shifting underneath and the other day when I got hit with snow i was leaving my driveway which was icy and couldn't make it out cuz it's a little steep so I flipped it into 4wd auto and immediately wen't right out. in the manual it says get it serviced if lights on guage flash, but i'm almost positive 4wd works, just don't know what the lights flashing means.

aldive, what and how do I find out if that's the problem/ should I just take it for service or is this something I can do on my own? thanks

The flashing lights are probably an indicator of a bad speed sensor on the T/F case. Have you tried putting it into 4-LO? I suggest you do, a) to make sure it works b) cause you should every month to make sure it stays lubed so it continues to work.

no I have not used 4low yet, i only have it a week, but I did read that in the manual to do that once a month. where should i drive it though? i thought it said not to use 4 low on dry roads and for how ling should i do it?

You are correct that you shouldn't use 4lo on pavement. However, you can put it in 4lo on pavement as long as you don't turn very much. If you don't have any dirt roads around to run on (If you're at PSU main, go up behind Tussey Mountain. Plenty there!) just find a straight stretch of deserted road and drop it into 4 lo for a short distance. You don't need to go far.
