someone boosted my spare

no, i suppose it makes sense. if you just had the suspension lift, everything should line up but since you have a bl and the spare is frame-mounted, that would offset things a bit...oh, about 3 inches i'd guess.

i would either not worry about it or get it outta there (you are right, it is kinda ugly) and never put it back down there...i'd prefer #2 over #1. if it was just cosmetic, i'd say hitch...every serious suv (mercedes, lexus, cadillac, etc do not count) should have a class III in mymind, but to each his own...and if you want that departute angle, the hitch will only hinder you.

yeah, id really like to get it outta there, ill have to search here and get under there again. if worse comes to worse ill pretend im a thief and get it out the hard way.

well, here is the rest of my optnion...if you have that much and 33s, is your spare a 33? if not, i would replace it with one to match the rest...which coinsidentally probably wonnt fit under there (or so i hear)...in which case, you have a few options (or so it seems). put it on top, on front, on back, or inside. (with inside being my first choice) as for getting it out, where there is a will, there is a way.

if you have a wonder bar, you could probably pry it down to pull the cable a little then use bolt cutters or find a way to turn it (ie screwdriver). or, you may be able to get it out by removing your bumber (only 4 bolts or so) then use the crank.

i never thought of removing the bumper, thanks. thats a good idea

try removing the liscense plate first. since the hole will likely be between the normal hole and the middle of the bumper, you may be able to just remove the plate, in which case, if you have a similar bl kit like i am getting (that has bumper relocation brackets) you may be able to relocare your bumper down some to gain access AND hide the tire better.

Why would someone steal one rusty steel rim and tire when they could have a set of four (I'm assuming you rotate your tires without including the spare in the rotation) for not much more work? And the four, if they are like most explorers I've seen, are mounted on Al rims.

a few reasons:

1) i go to school in detroit
2) i just served jury duty and left my truck in a parking structure for 4 days...in downtown detroit
3) i just pissed off someone real bad who has a tendence to steel parts from other vehicles during the night and ....
4) i had a 30x9.5 wrangler gsa tire on there and the bolt patter will bolt to almost any jeep wrangler/cherokee or explorer/mounty/ranger/navajo/b-series.

i think it is number three personally, bu the world may never know...

as for steeling the alloys, they had wear...plus it is more obvoius. if you see feel sticking out from underneath the truck, you just assume someone is fixing it, but if you see a dude with a cack, 4-way, and 4 cinderblocks, it looks suspicious.
