something doesn't look right there, eh? haha... yeah, so that was after getting about 3ft of air, on the front-end only. That happend over the summer, but I never realized it 'til like maybe a month ago. Doesn't seem to have affected the ride at all, I don't think anyway. Never had any problems after it happend.
Here's a couple more pics, although none of catching air :(

the side skirt won't go back together...

The driver's side tire caught the inner lip of the fender, and caused that. Yup, the tire got a little damage done to it too.

kinda hard to see, but there's some fairly deep gouges from the fender.

Have you learned anything from this?

haha, yeah... don't try to "burp" the gas as you're goin up a fairly steep little hill.
Atleast it hasn't caused any problems :D

what's burping the gas?

ummm.. burping the gas is when you smash the pedal to the metal and then let right off.
you know how monster trucks rev up for a sec all the time? that's burping the throttle

All that damage and you didn't even get a pic of the x in flight  :p :D

lol.. yeah yeah I know. But hey, I wasn't expecting it, and all the guys that were around weren't either.. so yeah, bummed me out too cuz I had my vid camera with me. Ah well, once I'm done buildin my Bronco2 it'll see some of that action :D

was it fun?

how are your tires doing? seems like that would throw your alignment off pretty bad..

haha when i first saw that.. i was like.. wtf? what's he doing with ipctures of my frame?? haha i've stopped jumping my truck since then. at least you dont have 5 degrees negative on ur camber.

my front x-member looks a little like that... mine came from going through a rock garden though and i kept smaking the x-member on the front and back sides.

My brothers new 2004 F150 won't let you "burp" the throttle :thumbdwn: But I got to drive it like all day around town and it's an awesome truck otherwise

yikes!!!!

did you actually bend any of the torsion bars or anything liek that? or just bash the crossmember... you sure that wasnt from running over something on the trail? to me it looks liek there are scratches there.. and you dont get scratches ifrom a landing onless you landed on something....

ah don't let these people fool ya.. you know how fun that is.. and theres no good reason to stop it ;)

is there anyway to replace that crossmember? mine is worse!

i bent mine by using it as a jack point.....yes, i'm gifted i appriciate the comments in advance....

good form, I use my driver's side door as a jack point. Now I have to get in dukes of hazzard style.

wow, didn't know there were new replies! lol
no, I don't believe my alignment is any worse than it is due to my TT. And no, nothing else was bent except that x-member.
Tire wear doesn't seem to be bad, but I can't really tell.. honestly, tread doesn't look much shallower than when I first put those tires on the Bronco2 (about 3 yrs ago).
I do seem to have some slight front-end wobble on the highway, but it feels more tierod end/balljoint related, but not positive. Plus, with the CV joint in the front driveshaft being shot, that adds in a LOT of vibration at highway speeds so it's kinda hard to tell.
And I guess that could have happend from the trail... but there were no big rocks on the trail, or atleast I wouldn't have been doin anything bad enough to cause that. When the front-end landed, it managed to break off the license plate, and it was in the original mounting spot on the bumper.
And I doubt there is any pheasable way to replace the x-member.. you'd have to do a lot of cutting and re-welding.

HA! And here I thought Blackjack was the only one with a front crossmember that looked like that :D Don't ask me how I did it, I have no idea... but to look at it you'd think I crash landed on a rock from 5 feet up  I've had some pretty serious wheel wobble issues in the last two years and after replacing tires, hubs, ball joints and tie rods, I think I've finally figured out what it is: You might need to replace your steering gear. They're not cheap, unfortunately- $250 new from Ford with a $150 core charge. I don't recommend buying one off of a junk truck either, since it was junked for a reason. I'm none too keen on blowing so much $$ on this fix, but my steering's gotten steadily worse and it's only a matter of time before I crash again at this point :( I'm hopefully putting in the new rack within a month, I'll let you know if it makes a difference!
