I was having T Case problems with my 97 4.0L with the BW 4405 GA. It was making a "Snapping" noise when driving. Especially uphill.... It sounds and feels like power is being built up and then released suddenly and violently. The tech I talked to at Ford told me it was likely the clutchpack. He said it was the ball and ramp assembly riding up over the balls, and the snap/momentary loss of power/shake of the driveline was the plate re-seating itself on the balls. The used one I put in makes a hell of a whirring noise when coasting downhill when I take my foot off the gas. My idea is that the shift fork is worn and allowing it to slip out. No snapping noise though. Tore both of them apart. Put everything from the chain up into my old case from the new (used)one. Reinstalled everything. (I seem to be getting pretty fast at it.....UGH...) Now the whirring noise is gone but the original snapping noise is back.......... Anyone have any ideas? Has anyone run into this problem as well? Getting ready to have a fire in the driveway.......
