What's better, using bedliner to sound proof or dynamat or something similar?

here is basically how it works...

how much is quietness worth to you?

If its worth a lot, spend a lot. If its not worth too much, dont spend too much.

A lot - dynamat
not a lot - carpet padding

If you are trying to get rid of rattles... DON'T, just get a new car, THEY DONT GO AWAY. If you try you will get pissed (like me).

Actually I haven't heard any rattles other than the rear window wiper... that's the only rattle i've got, but I'm actually trying to dampen the sound of my exhaust. It gets a tad annoying going down the highway when the peak resonance is around 75 mph.

I thought you were refering to sound deadening for a sound system. My subwoofers rattle everything, its impossible to even find half the rattles, and nothing seems to work.

PS, for the sound proofing you are talking about I would go with something like dynamat. This stuff called brown bread recieved VERY good ratings at a reasonable price you might want to check it out.

I have put dynamat covering every square inch of the cargo area plastic panels (on the panels themselves), and the rear hatch panel. I also used some cheapo stuff to line the wheel humps (Buy a pack, try it out. Its cheap enough, and it might help a little).

After all this, I thought I would be done, but more rattles from other sources have appeared. The dynamat did help, and if you have the money, I would go ahead and do it. However, if you dont have the money, just try and pin point the biggest rattles and go after those. Thats what I'm doing from now on. Dynamat is a luxury, not a necessity.

My explorer sounds like crap on the outside, but on the inside its getting much better.

For the rear hatch, the lock actuator makes a TON of noise. Mine was also loose. This is just something to look for when trying to stop rattling.
