Spare Tire - HELP!!!

I have a 98 Explorer and I don't know how to get the spare out from underneath. It evidentally is't like my 92 Explorer. Plus it doesn't say anything in the manual. Can anyone help me out? Thanks

If it is anything like my 95...take the jack extension (square end) which should be behind the passenger side of the rear seat..

Insert square end into hole just above the rear licence plate. THis is the little pully / winch that pulls the spare tight....just lower it down..

Caution though as I kind of stripped the end of my extender. Don't overtighten either. That contraption is kind of crappy.

Yeah, if you take the spare off and just twist that little contraption back up, don't twist it too tight because it WILL get stuck up there....happened to my dad on his '96....stupid things
