spare tire question

I just noticed today that my ex has a 17 for a spare but it has 18's on it I knew it had 18's but will a 18 with a steelie fit in the spare tire space? Thanks for any help.

the wheel size doesn't matter...it's the size of the tire. Should be fine up to about a 31.5" or so tire.

Strange.. I have the 18" wheels and the spare from the factory is an 18 as well with an identically sized tire (so it fits fine). I wonder if someone changed the wheels afterwards.

Yes the tire is a 17". I think it was 245/65/17

Thats what I was thinking but if it fits then I'll just get a 18 and throw it on there.
